The Big Thebans Challenge

How it works

We’ll meet at the Three Sisters in Edinburgh’s Cowgate to kick things off at 10am where we have a space booked and their breakfast menu will be available - we’ve also arranged for them to show the England and Wales Women’s games which are playing while we’ll all be asleep…

Each team will then race to complete a series of challenges and visit as many queer venues and iconic Edinburgh bars as they can.

Teams that manage to complete the challenge can win a prize on Sunday. We’ll run this on honesty but beware, teams that cheat will face the Kangaroo Court! Take a picture of you completing each challenge as proof.

The Challenges

1.      Take a picture of the team with a statue of a bear.

2.      Get a selfie with the world’s first cloned sheep, Dolly.

3.      Try on a kilt.

4.      Eat a deep-fried Mars bar.

5.      Find Scottish hero Robert the Bruce (hint: he’s guarding a castle)

6.      Climb a hill and take a team photo by Scotland’s Folly (hint: this iconic monument is fitting given Edinburgh’s claim to be the ‘Athens of the North’.

7.      Find the giraffes near Edinburgh’s ‘pink triangle’.

Carnaval de Clinic: Thebans Clinic 2026 Afterparty

Don’t worry of you’ve not picked up your wristband yet, come along to La Belle 9pm-10pm to pick it up.

The highlight of every Thebans Clinic is the themed afterparty.

Dig out your sparkly leotard, hot glue those feathers, put on your top hat – we’re going to have a gay old time under the big top. All the fun of the fair in a club night, once again hosted by La Belle Angele in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Bring your best costume and get ready to dance the night away – people do really go all out!
