Make 2026 the year you join Edinburgh’s only LGBTQ+ inclusive rugby club, the Caledonian Theban’s RFC. We accept players of all experience levels and of any gender.

Here’s just three reasons why you should join.

Learn a new sport (or pick it back up) and play at a level that suits you. 

We have training and competing opportunities for all, regardless of gender-identity. 

• Our Men’s+ 1st XV compete in the Arnold Clark East Region League Division 3.

• Our Women’s+ rugby team, the Thebans Hydra, are in the Arnold Clark Caledonia Midlands/East Region League Division 2.

• Our Touch Rugby team, Thebans Midas, entered into their first competitive season in 2025.

• And we also field Men’s+ development players in local friendlies and on tour.

Get fit.

We exist to provide opportunities to develop rugby knowledge, skills and fitness for all. 

• Qualified rugby coaching twice per week throughout the year

• Free online PT, discounted gym membership and discounted physiotherapy

We’re building an inclusive rugby community for all.

• Opportunities to play on UK and international tours

• Play, train and socialise at our annual Rugby Clinic, which attracts LGBTQ+ inclusive teams from across the UK and Europe

• Early access to request Scotland home international match tickets

Join us any time. 

New members are welcome to join at any point in the season, including those who been off the field for a while and would like to return to the game, or anyone wishing to start for the first time. Every summer we run our development Bootcamp, which runs for around 8 weeks and is completely free. We encourage complete beginners and returners alike to attend.

We train on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 630pm at the Royal High School Athletic Club at East Barnton.
